It comes with the power supply I think its charger as well, tape in transport and a new. I just put a tape in it and recorded couple short clips works fine. It has some discoloration on areas around the door which may have come from a battery as seen in photos. View and expand photos for a visual .

I purchased this about a year ago for the sole purpose of transferring my wedding tapes to computer, and It worked great. It has a power adapter but no battery.
